Itinerary
Day 1 – Iquitos to the Amazon & First Jungle Adventure
Begin with pickup at your hotel or the airport in Iquitos. Travel to the river port and take a scenic boat ride of approximately 3.5 hours along the Amazon and Tahuayo Rivers to Amazon Tahuayo Paradise Lodge.
After a welcome drink, check into your accommodation and enjoy lunch before beginning your first rainforest adventure. In the afternoon, take a guided jungle walk in search of monkeys, sloths, giant water lilies, and other wildlife.
After dinner, head out on a nighttime boat excursion to look for caimans, frogs, snakes, and other nocturnal species.
Day 2 – Poison Dart Frog Expedition
After breakfast, explore the Ceiba Trail, an excellent area for discovering the Amazon’s colorful poison dart frogs. Search for species such as Ranitomeya uakarii, Atelopus, Ranitomeya ventrimaculata, and Ranitomeya reticulata.
The trail also offers opportunities to observe birds including Green-backed Trogons, Pavonine Quetzals, motmots, and other rainforest species.
After dinner, choose a nighttime boat excursion, jungle walk, or canoe trip to search for caimans, bats, nocturnal birds, and other creatures.
Day 3 – Primates & Piranha Fishing
Explore the flooded forest in search of the pygmy marmoset, the world’s smallest monkey, along with other rainforest wildlife.
After lunch, head to the Tahuayo River for a traditional piranha fishing experience. Later in the evening, take a nighttime boat ride to look for caimans, bats, nocturnal birds, capybaras, and other Amazon wildlife.
Day 4 – River Exploration & Giant Otters
Enjoy a peaceful morning canoe excursion along the Tahuayo River while observing birds and wildlife along the waterways.
After lunch, venture into more remote areas of the river system in search of the giant river otter, one of the Amazon’s most remarkable mammals.
After dinner, choose between a boat excursion, jungle walk, or canoe trip for another opportunity to experience the rainforest after dark.
Day 5 – Amazon Sunrise & Departure
Start the day with an optional sunrise excursion along the Tahuayo River, combining beautiful Amazon scenery with early-morning birdwatching.
After breakfast, take a final walk through the Igapó flooded forest in search of howler monkeys, pygmy marmosets, owl monkeys, Hoatzins, and other wildlife.
After lunch, begin the return journey by boat and vehicle to Iquitos, with transfer to your hotel or the airport.
